Circulated and worn Indian pennies sell easily between 75 cents to $1. If any of your coins are in better than "Good" condition, collectors and dealers become very interested and your penny values increase rapidly.
How much are some of these old coins worth? One of the famous rarities, the 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent is a $450 coin and always in demand. Seldom found, it is a true rarity, although a box of old pennies with coins dated earlier than 1940, contains many valued at a dollar or more.

Another great American coin that specialists study intensely and avidly collect. Large cents are worth from $19 to many thousands. Carefully examine your coins for condition. Why Penny Values are Conditional

Of all your coins, the one in the nicest condition is probably the most valuable. Dealers and collectors are always looking for a more desirable coin and this usually means one in a better "Grade."

"Grade" is a rating measure assigned to the different stages of wear a coin experiences as it circulates.
Coin values are listed by Grade. Ranging from a heavily worn coin in the "Good" grade, to an "Uncirculated" coin, one in brand new condition showing no signs of wear.
Let's follow the changing condition and value of a 1919-S penny. Note: The "S" located under the date, indicates it was produced at the San Francisco Mint.

Like all "S" mints from the teens its value increases exponentially as the condition improves.
The first coin pictured, a rather worn example graded "Good" condition is worth 30 cents.
Next is a pleasing, although still worn "Extremely Fine" penny valued a $4.5. However...
